It is a famous beach on the eastern coast near the village of Anafonitria. Crystal clear waters, white sand, impressive cliffs and sand misovythismeno the wreck of a ship form a fantastic backdrop.
The German traveler E.L. Salvatos states in 1901 that the area of the Shipwreck was a very small beach with black stones. The olders of the region say that by 1920 there was a very little beach named Spirili.
After 1922 some landslides happened and they originally created the first significant beach which was about to the point that now the shipewreck is located. The last landslide after shipwreck created the beach that exist till today.
The shipwreck is dated to 1983, while the ship that sank was carrying contraband cigarettes.
